Frequently Asked VoIP Questions:

What is an IP Call?  IP (Internet Protocol) calls are carried over the Internet without interacting with the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network).  There are no long distance or telephone fees for IP calls between our customers.  In addition, costs to transmit calls to tradition telephones is much less expensive.

Can I keep my old phone number?  Yes, if your old phone number exist with a major phone carrier.  We can check the compatibility of your phone number prior to switching over to our system.

Do I need Internet service?  Yes our phones will use 90 Kbytes or less of uninterrupted internet bandwidth per phone call.  You must have adequate high speed internet to support each phone onsite.

Is call quality same as a regular phone?  The call quality is better and superior if using digital IP phones.

Can I make 911 calls? 
Yes, each of our phone extensions can be custom programmed for different physical locations, so each user will have emergency services available to them.

Can I use my old phones?  Yes, but using a digital IP phone gives you more features, better voice quality, and is easier to use.  You will need to purchase a Digital to Analog adapter to use old analog phone systems.

What happens when the internet goes down?  In the event of a power or internet outage, our system has backup phone numbers for each extension to route calls to automatically, so you never miss a call.  You can also have calls go to voice mail during an internet outage.

Can I have several main numbers?  Yes you can have unlimited main phone numbers for a fraction of what it would cost thru other phone companies.

Can I get a new phone number?  Yes you can purchase unlimited new phone number within minutes.  You can replace your phone number with a new number, even with a different area code, any time while using our system.

Do I have to maintain phone equipment?  No.  We're a hosted phone system. All equipment are maintained 24 hours a day at our location, saving you thousands of dollars in purchase and maintenance costs.

Can I have a toll-free number?  Yes you can transfer your toll free number to our system or we will provide you a new toll free number.

Is the phone system easy to setup?  YesInitial training and unlimited technical support are available if needed.  Most users learn the system in a few minutes.

Can I transfer calls to any number? 
YesYou can transfer any call to an extension or any phone number in the world.  When the call is transferred, your phone line will be available to receive new calls.

Do I need a computer to make a call?
  No, but we provide a free software to make calls from any computer, anywhere in the world as an option.

Can I use a  headset?  Yes.  There are several cordless headsets available that will allow you to talk up to 350 feet from your desk phone.

Can I answer/make calls remotely?  Yes.  With the Free App for all cell phones and computers, you can answer calls as if you were at your office.  When you make a call, your company Caller ID will shown, instead of your cell phone Caller ID.  Using the App on your cell phone, makes your cell phone a cordless extension of your desk phone.

Can I send text messages?  Yes.  Each extension has a private phone number.  The extension phone number is the number used for sending and receiving text messages from any cell phone or phones within your VoIP phone system.

Can I move phone locations?
  Yes if you have our IP phone, you connect it to an internet connection around the world and make/receive phone calls as if you are at your office.  If your move is permanent, you can easily change your 911 settings and phone number to the local area code.

Can someone call me collect?  No, our phone service doesn't allow collect calls to your phone number.

Can I receive voice mails by email?  Yes you have the option of  immediately receive voice mail notifications with the audio file attached to your email, or with a website link to go online to listen to your voice mail.

Can I make international calls?  Yes.  Currently we provide Free calling to Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and UK.

Will your phone system become obsolete?  No.  We upgrade our system every year with new features as requested by users.  This will be the last phone system you will ever use.

Will VoIP service work on alarm systems?  No. Most alarm systems will require an analog phone line or cellular phone signals.

Will VoIP service work on FAX machines?  FAX machines require an analog phone signal and VoIP is a digital signal.  A digital to analog phone signal converter can be used for fax machines.  We offer an electronic fax solution to receive faxes up to 5 email addresses, for less than the cost of a fax phone line.

Will VoIP service work on credit card terminals?  Old credit card terminals operate on analog phone lines, but most terminals now have a internet port.  If your terminal has the internet option, you can easily switch from phone line to internet line without no additional cost.

Do I have to upgrade my phone wiring for VoIP?  VoIP requires Ethernet CAT5e, CAT6 or better cables with RJ-45 connectors.  CAT3 wires or RJ-11 connectors will need to be upgraded.  If your IP phone will reside next to a computer that is connected to the internet by an Ethernet cable, the IP phone has a built-in network switch to share the internet with the computer or any data device.

Will VoIP work with my computer network?  We require a router or firewall with Quality of Service (QOS), to prioritize internet to phone calls to guarantee phone quality.  We provide pre-configured routers for our VoIP phone system for easy installation.  We can also configure your existing compatible router.  VoIP phone calls use less than 100K of internet bandwidth per call.

Do I need power for IP phones?  All VoIP phones have the option to operate on a separate power source to each phone or Power Over Ethernet (PoE).  With PoE, you can power the IP phones thru the Ethernet data cable, if the cable is connected to a PoE network switch.

Can I use phones from another VoIP company?  Yes, if they are IP phones with a Device Certificate Installed. If the Device Certificate is Not Installed, Invalid, or no device certificate available, then the phone is not compatible with our phone system.

Can I cancel service if the system doesn't work?  Yes you have 30 days to try the system.  After 30 days there will be a small penalty fee for each phone you cancel within a year, unless you are in a long term agreement.

What forms of payment do you accept?  We only accept credit card or ACH payments, so no credit check or deposit is needed for service.  ACH payments require a 5-day processing time.
